Your Photographer
My name is John Hobson and I am the photographer at Free Range Photographic. I love being around people, I love observing people and most of all I love photographing people. It’s people that make your wedding day what it is; their emotions, their personalities and their connections, and it is that which I strive to capture photographically on your wedding day.
I have had a long-standing passion for photography, winning my first photographic prize aged 11 in my Gloucestershire village’s produce show for a print of The Bridge of Sighs in Venice. Photography has been a constant in my life ever since and whilst travelling in 2005 I decided to turn my passion into a career and so Free Range Photographic was born.Free Range Photographic started in early 2006 amongst the grand architecture of Edinburgh and in 2011 moved down to the beautiful rolling hills of Peak District, nestled away in the village of Fenny Bentley, near Ashbourne, Derbyshire.
My photographs have featured as full page spread in the New York Times and on the front cover of the United Nations book ‘Arms Control After Iraq’. My personal work can be found over at flickr.
Other than photography I also play the ukulele, enjoy walks in the Peak District and love spending time with my little family – recently enlarged with the addition of baby Isabel in 2010.
